A family academy with instructors who grew up on the mat.
Dunedin Taekwondo Academy was founded by Grand Master James Lemminn in 1982. Today, students train under Master BJ Lemminn, the academy’s lead instructor, with support from Instructor Ryan Koski, a longtime DTA student who now helps teach the next generation.
Master BJ Lemminn
Master BJ leads the academy with structure, precision, energy, correction, encouragement, and lifelong Taekwondo experience. Students are taught with real standards, not one-size-fits-all instruction.
Instructor Ryan Koski
Ryan trained at Dunedin Taekwondo Academy growing up and now helps students build discipline, confidence, focus, and steady progress.
BJ and Ryan have known each other since childhood. That history gives the academy a teaching culture built on trust, shared standards, and a deep understanding of what Dunedin Taekwondo Academy means to its students.
Confidence, focus, respect, coordination, discipline, and earned progress.
Strength, skill, movement, stress relief, self-defense awareness, and steady growth.
Students are taught with clear expectations, consistent routines, and real standards.
Students are corrected, supported, challenged, and taught to keep showing up.
Experience matters when students are learning discipline.
Strong instruction is about more than knowing Taekwondo. It is knowing how to teach different ages, guide different personalities, build confidence safely, and help each student understand what real progress feels like.

We teach more than kicks, forms, and belts.
Taekwondo gives students a place to move, train, focus, and build strength. But the deeper work is helping students develop confidence, discipline, respect, self-control, and the ability to keep going when something is hard.
At Dunedin Taekwondo Academy, students are taught with structure and encouragement. They learn that progress does not happen all at once. It is built through practice, patience, effort, correction, consistency, and pride in earned work.
Dunedin Taekwondo Academy combines traditional Taekwondo instruction with character development, helping kids, teens, adults, beginners of all ages, and returning students build confidence, focus, discipline, respect, strength, coordination, and perseverance in a structured local academy environment.
Students learn what effort can do.
Every class gives students another chance to practice, improve, and feel proud of what they are earning.
Focus under pressure.
Belts represent work.
Students practice patience, perseverance, focus, and self-control.
Training supports coordination, balance, strength, flexibility, and body awareness.
Respect, responsibility, discipline, and confidence are built into the way students train.
Belts matter. Character matters more.
The belt is a milestone, not the whole story. The real growth is in the student who listens better, stands taller, tries again, respects others, and learns how to keep going.
A place for every starting point.
Some students walk in full of confidence. Some are nervous. Some are brand new. Some are coming back after years away. Dunedin Taekwondo Academy gives kids, teens, adults, beginners of all ages, returning students, and families a place to begin, train, and keep growing.
Beginner today. Stronger tomorrow.
The point is not to arrive perfect. The point is to start, train, listen, practice, and keep improving.
